I can't believe it...

I actually woke up early enough this morning to make myself a latte to take to work! This may not seem impressive to a lot of you but for this girl it is VERY impressive. I am not a morning girl especially when waking up means going to sit in a cube for 8 hours.

Breakfast

Homemade:) latte:

In the mug my husband bought me as a "night before wedding gift". I had my wedding day latte in this mug and I will remember that always!

To eat I had 1/4 of this Valentine themed cookie:

Lunch

Mongolian Wok. I had about 1/4 of this dish. It was a half a scoop of rice, bunch of veggies and hot chili sauce.

Crystal Light lemonade water to drink.

Happy Hour

Went to Ceres and ordered a Captain Diet Coke.

Lunch did not fill me up so I ordered a buffalo chicken soup. However, I really only had the broth, and it was very good!

FYI...

I'm not sure if anyone saw this post but I thought I would provide the link below:

It was the coolest beach experience and I just smile thinking about the last night on the island!

Friday in St. Maarten

My husband and I were not in the best of shape after the pub crawl. We woke up late and dragged ourselves to a restaurant with a great view. I just love how some of the restaurant have no walls!

I had the perfect hangover meal (even on an island) a cheese burger and fries:

The best mozzarella sticks:

We were really bummed that it was our last day on the island and were feeling pretty depressed that we would have to be going back to our "normal" lives.

Maho Beach

Spur of the moment we decided to hit up Maho Beach. This beach was the most beautiful beach we had been to the entire time we were on the island.

The water was warm, so blue and the waves were huge!

This beach is known because of the Princess Juliana International Airport that is situated immediately adjacent to the beach.

After watching a couple small planes fly above us we decided to go to the restaurant down the beach to wait for the big jets to land.

The bar had a surf board in the sand that listed the arrival times of all the planes.

While waiting for the jets I sipped on a Kettle one vodka and Sugar Free Red Bull:

I thought the bathroom signs were funny:

And I LOVE disco so I was psyched to see a disco ball on the beach!

Still waiting for the big jets to fly over, my husband and I shared an order of spiced fries.

The signs around the beach and the restaurant were hilarious! Warning people of the jet engines power to blow you over.

Finally the jets arrived. It was amazing and so much fun not only to watch the jets but to watch the peoples reactions to the jets.

We were SO happy we decided to go to this beach. Not only were the planes cool but the water was beautiful. We both had a great time!

Last Meal in St. Maarten

We decided to go to Big Fish for our last meal on the island.

I had a salad with really fresh ingredients.

and the BEST fettucini in my life. I'm not even kidding, this was heavenly. I believe the menu called it Jerk Chicken fettucini. It had the most amazing flavoring I've ever experienced. My poor husband was probably embarrassed by all the mmmmm's that were coming from our table while I inhaled this dish!

For dessert we had a Multan chocolate cake. We didn't know it when we ordered it but, it came with some mint ice cream and a mint flavored liquor.

This trip was amazing. The water is beautiful and the people are so nice. It was great to get away from the city and just take the time to relax with my husband!

Thursday in St. Maarten

Thursday was great! We spent a bit of the morning and most of the afternoon just lounging by the pool:

I was able to read a book, Hungry by Crystal Renn, something I don't normally have the time for in regular life.

Around lunch time I had a frozen cocktail:

and a great salad all while never leaving my chair!

I've never actually sat by a pool for so long but it was wonderful and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Thursday night Patrick and I went on a pub crawl. I was really looking forward to it because the description sounded so fun. However, I don't think we ended up getting everything we signed up for:(

My first drink on the pub crawl was a captain and diet coke:

Appetizers were veggie egg rolls and mahi mahi kabobs. The mahi was actually the best fish I had on the island.

We boarded our sail boat with 4 other people and headed to the next pub. Uncle Harry's Dockside bar and restaurant:

We sat at our reserved table:

And drank some rum punch, yummers!

I had a steak kabob and baked potato at Uncle Harrys:

After we were fed we sailed away:

I will say that I don't think this boat ride was worth the money we paid for it. However, Patrick and I were lucky enough to be on the boat with a great group of people from Boston! We had so much fun with them and I can't tell you how much I wish we would have met them earlier in our trip!

Wednesday in St. Maartens

Wednesday on the island was a day of luxury.

It started off with us waking up and sitting on the balcony just soaking in the views. While sitting we had a couple unexpected visitors. First, we had a bird land on the railing, I named him Henry:

Henry sat around for a couple minutes and then flew off to be with his bird friends:)

Next we had a school of fish swim along. If you look really close you can see them:

Around 11:00 am we headed to the spa to partake in a couples massage. This is not something we normally do so it was a big treat. My masseuse, Paula, was A-mazing! I mentioned to her that I have lower back pain and frequent headaches so these are the areas she focused on. The things she did to my head were better then anything I've ever experienced on a massage table!

I wish I could say my husband had the same experience but his was not good, at all.

Lunch

We had a great time at the Westin. We spent a couple hours in a cabana on the beach right outside the hotel. The first thing I did was order an iced beverage:

Caesar Salad:

and a great fresh Fruit Plate:

I ate my perfect ocean side meal and sat back, relaxed and watched the ocean:

Dinner

After our massage and relaxing day on the beach it was time to head to the resort and get ready for dinner. This night we decided to head over the Captain Oliver's Restaurant. This is a restaurant that we could see, across the water, from the balcony of our room. We could hear music playing every night so we thought it would be a fun happening place.

From the moment we walked into the restaurant we knew we had the wrong impression of this place. Yes, there was loud music but hardly anyone was in the place.

We sat down and were presented with some complimentary appetizers. This was some kind of vegetable paste inside a pastry puff. Everyone at the table liked it but I was turned off by the vegetable paste:

We were feeling very dehydrated so a bottle of Evian was needed:

A glass of pinot grigio:

Notice the empty tables behind me:

I chose Sea Bass as my main dish. Presentation of the dish was nice and the flavor was okay.

After we were finished with our meal the server came out with the banana rum! I had no idea that this was an island thing.

I had one shot glass full.

If you look close you can see the banana soaking in the bottom of the bottle:

After dinner drink

After dinner Patrick and I decided to stop by the resort bar to check out some football scores and get an after dinner drink.

I had a wonderful mint chocolate coconut martini! It tasted like a girl scout cookie!

I really wish I knew how this cocktail was made. I just might have to figure it out myself.

Stay tuned for my Thursday adventure on St. Maarten!
